Not always in control

Not that I think I am in control, but sometimes life is frustrating when you are not always in control... aka depending on other people is the big thing I guess. Went back to work and had 22 messages, too many emails and way to many problems. But hey it is Fall and that when it gets busy. Maybe this is all magnified by the fact that it has been awhile since I have talked to a green eyed girl. No one was home tonite, no one.

So maybe Karma is helping me out but I need to take it slow because you can't always get what you want right. Maybe I will chalk it up to anticipation of the Labour Day game...or...my run in two weeks...or seeing that someone who makes you smile again. Ahh blend it up and call it life.

So I ran into a buddy in the mall today and wow did he ever send off bad Karma. He was so negative and basically said he has no life. Not a ray of sunshine in that conversation, so I bailed as soon as I could. What is it with people who want to be unhappy? Stay away. As for me I guess I am lucky in a sense. Good attitude shows in conversation.

Am I lucky, well according to Olympic Athletes, luck is the meeting of preparation and opportunity. What do you think? I couldn't agree more.

Conversation

Ok just let me start this post first of all by declaring my love for mud, sweat, trails and a mountain bike.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday greeting...as they came in all kinds of ways.

Last night. Hmmm what can I say. Sometimes life has you between a rock and a hard place and other times the world is your oyster. I was dining on oyster last night. First met some friends for drinks and then went to our ball banquet and had a great time with our team once again. We basically swept most of the awards but it was great to finally get our league trophy. I managed to dance pretty much ever way possible excluding line dancing. Must admit my jive needed a little work but it all came back. Things were a little weird for a while as one guy wants more keys for something but what took the cake was one girl informing me she was going to marry me. Yeah not exactly what I wanted to here. One the other side and this is what makes the evening great...I had some great conversation with friends, colleagues, buddies and new people with great stories. I also got digits from a super cutie who made me smile. I should of went downtown with her....oh well. One person asked me why I was so happy and the answer was simple. It's my birthday and when it all comes down to it, I'm a happy camper pretty much all the time. I also learned that Victoria Secret makes great mints :)

Some people become happy with being miserable, I know I was there a while ago, but if your going to get in a routine, why not make it a happy one. Works for me.

I've paid my dues

So after 6 years in the league for me and 3 loses in the final, finally the Jets won the league. This was something in the making since 1992. Funny thing was it was so hard to win but came relatively easy this year. Our pitcher pitched 3 outstanding games and we swept the final with a 10-2 victory. 1 through 9 our team was great. Talk about teamwork and not relying on one or two guys. As for me, well what a great season. One player even said that without me getting hot it makes a difference. When the 2-4 guys are hot it is good but when the 5-6 guys get hot look out. I guess I have to agree. So far 2004 has been a great year "athletically" for me. All this training is paying off I guess and basically I'm in the prime of my "career".

So the season we went 25-4-1. Not bad hey. Best thing of all is that is did not go to our heads and we had fun through out the season.

There is few better feelings than being part of a team. A real team on and off the field.

Something Big

Our team is on the edge of something big. Another win last night and only one more to win the league. Something our team has not done in 10 years. Like I said something big. Last nights game can be simple described as ugly and we were on the right side of ugly in a 14-8 win. We were down at the start but picked it up and need tonite's win to end a really good season.

As for me well, this would cap a great summer.

Never Follow

That's right. Never follow..take the lead even if you don't know where you are going. The last two days have been all over the place. First of all I talked to the onewho has me smitten, then talked to my friend from newfoundland and found out all about her summer. Seal that day and call it quits because nothing will top that. The future looks great

Today was coming at all angles. First, today was my number one employees, who I have always though of more of a co-worker, last day. We have work together for 4 summers and she will be irreplaceable. So onward to giving dating advice to a friend who has to chose between two girls. Well more like to chose or not to chose. My advice is that he has to choose. You can't play both ends or else you will end up with nothing. Without trust you basically have nothing. So I will see how that goes. Then I had to fire it up for Game 1 of the league finals. Now I'm still feeling the effects of Weyburn but I managed to play a great game defensively. Made a over the shoulder catch and some great plays on second. We won the game 8-0 and lead the best of 5 1-0. It will be so sweet if we can win the series for the first time ever. Our team has everything you need including confidence. Like I said before confidence is a funny thing. It is also what builds success and championships.

If you want it you got it you just got to believe

Smitten

Ever feel that sometimes someone wrote a song for you and just only you? That has happened to me. Green Eyes by Coldplay. First of all I have had it in my head all week and then I saw a green eyed angel again at the football game on Saturday Night. Now I felt like I just fell of a train and my transition from the Summer Game responsibility and to the football game happened in just 1 hour. Plus my voice that I lost just started to return. Never less I'm smitten by this girl. Never in my life have I been able to talk to someone about building bins, hauling grain and life's ups and downs. An to top it off, talent on the dance floor that is second to none. ahhhhh. She even used my line of "when do I get to see you again?" Oh yeah it is also official...I'm a cutie. This was by far the best football game ever with a huge rider victory and the best company. Ok let me share a little Coldplay with you.....

Honey you are a rock
Upon which I stand
And I come here to talk
I hope you understand

The green eyes, yeah the spotlight, shines upon you
And how could, anybody, deny you?
I came here with a load
And it feels so much lighter now I met you
And honey you should know
That I could never go on without you
Green eyes

Honey you are the sea
Upon which I float
And I came here to talk
I think you should know
The green eyes, you're the one that I wanted to find
And anyone who tried to deny you, must be out of their mind
Because I came here with a load
And it feels so much lighter since I met you

Honey you should know
That I could never go on without you
Green eyes, green eyes

Oh oh oh oh
Honey you are a rock
Upon which I stand

Weyburn 2004

Sask Summer Games can be summed up simply as ..."work hard and play hard." Zone 3 did alright but with our number we thought that we would do a little better. I guess that is the competitive nature in our board and mission staff. What a difference in the first half and second half. First half I had baseball and the weather was cold and wet. With baseball you watch the game and that is it. Quite different in second half with warm sunny days and Speed Swimming. That even goes on all day long with heats, prelims and finals. Nice to be out in the sun but I sure wanted to jump in the pool. I had the best mission staff to work with and it is not easy to say that after you spend 7 days with people with little sleep. Let me tell you the personal life conversations were very interesting and I understand life a little more.

Now for the social life...well the first night was very disappointing. No Mission Social. So we had to make our own fun and did we have fun. I basically asked everyone working in the hotels or bars what we should do. Well after a great time in the hotel (by the way I had a fantastic suite) we checked out the night life in Weyburn. Not bad and we ended up at the bar with a Boxing Ring as a dance floor. Cool. Danced it up and chatted it up with the staff. So the rest of the week was this. Work until 11:00 pm go to the hospitality room (alright with karaokee and live band) go to the Royale (bar) then go to the hotel. Basically we went to bed at 4:00 am and up again at 7:00 am. Best part was when I got to the Karaokee night my friends had my songs all picked out for me. I had no idea what I was singing. Street Dance on Thursday which ended way to early. Overall Weyburn was very sociable but that is what happens when happy people head everywhere. Kinda like a Counting Crows song....when everybody loves you, you can never be lonely.

Staying Alive

Ok i'm still alive in Weyburn and doing great. I will fill you in later with the Weyburn 2004 Summer Games Experience.

Big news is my 10km race on saturday in the Hills. So my pb was 49.25 on a flat course on July 1. Well this is the hills so my expectations were not focused on time however......my 10km time....48.51! even i am impressed with myself. there is no better feeling then personal achievement. What a great race and best of all i shared it with my family. So much motivation when you know someone is at the finish line.

Life in the fast lane is great!

Sam Roberts Rocks!

Saw Sam Roberts tonite at buffalo days.  Wow what a show.  Coming from Craven that says a lot.  That band really rocks with great melody and flow from soft riffs to heavy guitar rock and roll.  I sung my heart out. Hard Road good, Brother Down clapping and singing even better, then Don't Walk Away Eileen, fabulous but when he sang Were Have All The Good People Gone? Perfection I tell ya.

The crowd finally got into it with a magical encore with the opening act joining them on stage.  Must say some quiet people in the crowd and some youngin's who have a lot to learn about rock and roll.  This was a great education.

Pep

Haha, today i was the mc at a pep rally.  So much fun.  I like being behind a microphone.  Cheers, Chants and overall big pride for our team heading to the Summer Games.  All around success.  Then off to a pasta night with a co-worker with very interesting conversation from relations, friends, religion and musical instruments.  Nothing like working a 12 hour shift to make a beer taste so good.

Wow am I ever gonna be busy the next two days.  It includes packing, getting all my work together, Sam Roberts, 10 km race and then the games.  Not to mention family coming on friday for my playoff game and my run.  Life in the fast lane is great.

Playtime is in full effect!

that's more like it

I have no complaints at all this weekend.  One word fabulous.  Let me share a little sunshine.

So after a great day friday, saturday continued on a total role.  Huge amount of work done at home, then off for a little shopping spree.  It has been a while since i went shopping so it was fuctional and theraputic.  Guess who owns a rider flag for his car?  Saturday's football game was once again unbelievable.  Ok our section was buzzing again and we had a great group.  Saw a friend from home and yes brace yourself I met an angel.  A friend of a friend and wow she made an impression.  This makes me happy.  Football game with a huge rider win followed by dancing and bar hopping.  The best plans are sometimes never made, they just happen.

Sunday after a little KFC, went out to Buffalo Pound for a little camping.  After a little shower, everything cleared up and a great night of drinking beer around the campfire and talking about all kinds of stuff.  For whatever reason I can so sleep-in in a tent.  Go figure.

So pin a rose on my nose because I ran for 2 hours and 6 minutes total and I think it was around 19 km.  I seemed like it was all uphill to because the decents were steep downhill and the uphill portion was long steady climb.  I feel great and looking forward to my run on Saturday.

Ok that's it.  Hey sometime life deals you a great hand and this weekend was one of them.  By the way my favorite "v" word is victory!
