Van City

Well I've been on both coast now as an adult and must say both have their perks. Vancouver is a beautiful city with an incredible harbour, view and the mountains are amazing in the background. I stayed right downtown is a sweet hotel which includes stores such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Yikes! as in super expensive. Bacon and Eggs room service was $25.00! However I had a great meeting an owe alot to the Canadian Red Cross. I'm proud to be part of such and organization.

I had a great walk in the seawalk and was satisfied by the aquarium but not blown away at the aquarium. As for the nightlife....well all I can say is there is every flavour you could imagine and so many cultures in such a small area. I also drove by East Hasting and Main which was an eye opener with all the "junkies" dancing in the street and just existing to live.

However the biggest disappointment of Vancouver was the inability to find any really cool Olympic stuff. I went to the Bay but it was no different than what we have here in Saskatchewan. I was not happy and wanted a really cool hat or scarf but I had to settle for some pins.

I wish I had more time to explore everything but another time I guess.

21.1 V5

Well it was more like 22.8 but let’s just call it even due to a winter race with very few volunteers. Ran the Hypothermic Half Sunday in a time of 1:57:34. Now that is kinda unofficial because that is what my Garmin said but the race organizers made a little mistake in the course that I new what going to happen.

However I felt great during this race and the weather was cloudy, windy and about -6. My last half was in May and my time was 1:58. So I’m right were I was last year and running in the snow was not the best condition to run real fast. It appears that the winter training and the diet has paid off and I may be in for some great times when I start adding speed workouts and hills once is warms up a bit.

My confidence for Rome is good and my 30km training run will help with that.

Since my life is not busy enough, we just cut a whole in the wall between the kitchen and the living room. It looks great but I need sometime to finish everything and I’m off to Vancouver this weekend for a meeting with the Red Cross.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique……just like everyone else

Well I’m off to Vancouver!

Snow ((Hey Oh))

I had one of those moments today when I was out side running. You know those moments when you think that you are in your element and you are at one with your surroundings. I have never ran in the snow before but today I did and is was so quiet and peaceful. When RHCP's hit the Ipod, I must say it felt like a movie or something and all I could do is smile.

To compliment this moment I had an unbelievable run today and I think all my training and diet is paying off. I mean I'm not going to be setting any PB's the next two months but once the ice and snow leave....look out. I am looking forward to my first drink of 2007 which will be a glass of wine somewhere in Rome.

I also remember reading that there is not one good reason to run a marathon. Hmmm, Well I read something else that I agree with. You see runners are lucky. We get to discover something important.....How good can I really be? That's pushing yourself to the X.

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
And its all white as snow
Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed
And theres no where to go
