Honeymoon Update

Well this will be an overall summary of the week we had in the states. It was awesome. Somedays busy somedays quite but most important my sweet and I had a great time together. No stress, no worries just spending money.

So we went on an awesome bus trip with a great guide and mixed group of people. This trip included Reptile Gardens which was super cool, Bear Country were we go to feed bear cubs, Mount Rushmore which was full of american pride and pretty cool stuff, then over to Crazy Horse which is cool and going to be very cool once finished. It will be amazing and make Rushmore look small in comparison. After we got a new bus because ours broke down at Crazy Hourse, we had an amazing drive through Custer State Park were honestly the buffalo roam and a very scenic road with 4 mountain tunnels. Total of about 10 hours but it was well worth it.

Shopping and site seeing continued at Reptile Gardens again and we spent sometime at the Rapid City Fair. We thought it would be grander but it was good because we never made it to any fairs at home this year. Excellent food and we really noticed that americans are overweight and it is kinda scary with the kids. I guess the fitness boom hasn't landed there yet.

The next couple days were spend in the Black Hills in Keystone and Hot Springs. Had a ride on a 1880's train, followed by a soak in a natural heated pool with the fastest water slide I have ever been on. Then we went to my sweet's dream come true. A wild horse sanctuary with 500 wild mustangs running around.

Then we had great luck in Deadwood getting a sweet hotel. That was because it was Cool Nights 2006 which meant 750 classic cars in town for a car show. People everywere. This included no vancany anywere but main street was rocking. No really it was rocking. The was a stage at the bottom and people sitting or standing for 4 blocks. They even had a huge jumbotron in the middle so everyone could see the stage. This was combined with cheap drinks and fee food and drinks in the casino. Like I said our luck was getting a room and no luck was had in the casino but fun was had. Yes Deadwood would be a place to return.

Honeymoon was awesome!

south bound honeymoon

Ok we are on road and heading into the States...North and South Dakota today. The trip started at 6:00 and tim horton's was the first stop in Weyburn. Boy was it every embarrasing traveling the highway just before the border. I mean it was a brutal mess of pavement and gravel.

Then we got to the border and we had a roast beef sandwich. Well that is a no no but since we're on the honeymoon he let us keep the sandwich.

Rapid City came quite quickly. I though driving in Saskatchewan was boring....well it quite exciting when you have to drive through North Dakota. Yawn! Our hotel room is sweet as it has a jacuzzi tub to soak in right beside the bed.

Oh yeah....I forgot how much I want an Olive Garden in Saskatchewan!

One Swing

Is it possible for a moment in time that defines life or signals a change? If there is not I'm not sure what happened last night but I think it was one of those moments.

Let me set things up. My last day at work with any real work that needs to be done, followed by my last ball game of the year. What happens, well crappu day at work and I lead of the game and get hit by a pitch right in the back. First pitch of the game too! I'm like what is this all about. The games goes on and I stuck out twice and thinking....great what a way to end the game and the season. Then my last at bat...I go yard. Yes I pulled a home run into right field and did it ever feel great. Then my mind started racing about how that was the sign to start things off and end a chapter in my life. Yes with one swing, my old career, my old job and my ball career all ends.

Flip the page because a new chapter begins Saturday with the best day of my life. It has been fun but the big world of opportunity is waiting to be conquered by scooter.

Almost

Well only two more days at work and then that is over. Try cleaning out the desk from the past 7 years.

Excitment has started to build. The wedding is almost here and everything I can do is done. Bring it on.

And just to brag....I did 45 km last week.....some people told me they have trouble driving that far. 4 weeks to remember. That is for sure!

4 days

What a wonderful long weekend. Why you ask? Well basically I did nothing. It was great to do nothing together. Did so much wedding stuff, I'm on cruise control. Went to a movie, cooked a great meal and did wow does the yard look great. This combined with a 30km run on Monday and boom 4 day vacation at home.

So the 30 km was pretty hard. Started off ok but it was hot so that kinda kicked in about 26km and I had to take it easy at the end. My sweet rode here bike with me and I was able to stay hydrated. Pretty much the hardest k's I have everydone including my marathon. Looking forward to the taper pace of training and going hardcore in the next 5 weeks.

However I must state this watching TV....what the heck is the movie snakes on planes about. Is this really true? Has hollywood totally blanked with ideas? I'm not sure but really Snakes on Planes? How did that ever make it to the big screen?

I sticking with Rockstar Supernova right now. I cheering for the Canadian Lukas again!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Change

Yes as previously posted big change is happening. What is it you ask? Hmmm could it be my upcoming wedding? Yes but that is not it.....Could it be my big 3-0 birthday coming up? Yes but that is not it. Let me see what else what else. Ok let's move on then...how about my career. Yes now we are getting warmer......

I just accepted the position of Community Recreation Coordinator at 15 Wing Moose Jaw. That is right I have a new job and resigned from the City of Moose Jaw. I'm very excited as this job has all kinds of benefits to me professionally and I will be working with and for a great group of people. Not to say that the City was all that bad but this opportunity is amazing and I had no room for growth were I currently am. It is great I get to stay in Moose Jaw.

Yeah so that is it. In the next month I will quit my job, get married, go on a honeymoon, turn 30 and then start a new job. An August to remember and not for breaking any bones!

Changes
David Bowie
I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-ChangesDon't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes

Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
