Yeah Canada

So Canada did awesome in the Olympics even with the men's hockey team pulling up lame. However in the true spirt of the Olympics and with sport in general let me offer you this. It was shared to me by someone wise beyond their years.

The credit belongs to the person who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; (hello Joe Sakic) who strive valiantly; who errs adn comes short again and again, who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotions and spends theirself ins a worthy cause; who at best, know the triumph of high achievement (hello Cindy Klassen & the Gushue Rink) and who, at the worst, if they fail, at leat fail while daring greatly, so that there place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

Yes life is more about getting to the start line than crossing the finsh line sometimes.

Steady...Steady

Well that was my first thought last night as I was delivering my first rock. First curling game in more that 3 years and my delivery started off alright and then, slippage. Yes I fell and delivered the rock way wide. Second shot much better and then everything came back to play. I was having trouble with my weight but so was everyone else. At least I did not hog any rocks. So basically I already had the itch to curl as I have spend many hours watching curling and never playing. We already have a hand on a mixed team for next year. We just need to find another guy. Once again it appears the only way I will make it to the Olympics is as a spectator. You know what, I can live with that.

Here is to hurring hard with hack weight, raising for two.

Aloha

Aloha from Melfort and the 2006 Sask Winter Games. Had a great time Saturday night at the Aloha lounge as the 3 Elvis's stoled the show. A standing ovation of course. Melfot has everything in order and did a great job at the Opening Cermonies.

I at the curling rink cheering on the Gull Lake girls.

Game On!

Questions for the Recording Academy

Thoughts on the Grammy’s Last Night

What the heck is the difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year? How did Mimi make it into both for the same song if it is a different Category? How can you introduce Bruce Springsteen as a Fold singer and then give him a Grammy for Rock performance? How does Jay-Z and Linkin Park win a Grammy in 2006 for a song two years old? Please explain the difference between a short form music video and a long form music video? Why not just call it what it is one is a Music Video and one is a documentary. It is not a long music video when the band starts talking. A finally I love Stevie Wonder (heck we were Spinning to Superstition last night) but I can’t define him as a Pop Singer. Just call it best male vocal performance. I guess this is the trouble with the world today, or should I say the beauty of the word. Art cannot be defined in a category, Music is a personal state of mind.

However they did get it right with Green Day, U2, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 winning. Read the lyrics first and then listen to the song. Powerful stuff.

Pump it up

Wow what a week. It seemed like it had everything. Training, meetings, a paper route (don't ask), a wonderful supper cooked by me and a pep rally. Yes that is right only one more week until the 2006 Sask Winter Games were I get to wear the Black and Gold. I may never make it to the Olympics but I will always be part of Zone 3. It is so much fun but so much work. It is one of those times were you give away sleep for fun and it is worth it.

I also just watched the Super Bore I mean the Super Bowl. Was it just me or did everyone including the NFL, officials and the broadcaster want the Steelers to win? Well since they beat out Indy, I guess there were the NFL's posterchild. This was just another case of why the CFL is more exciting. I mean the players are better in the NFL but on each and every kick or punt return there is a chance for something sizzling in the CFL. The NFL has the exciting fair catch magical dowing the ball on the 5 year line (yawn) Also the Seahawks were down 11 points with 6:34 left. 6:34 is a hell of a lot of time in the CFL since the clock stops each play. Not so in the NFL, they just run the ball and kill the clock. Not much excitement at all.

Well at least the Rolling Stones gave me some Satisfaction
