Were the streets have snow pellets

Well after a very intersting week at work that I would rather not comment on I had today off. I had it planned all out....long run...now when I say long run I mean 30km. This is the longest training run that I will do. So I wake up and what do I see...snow. Last time I ran 25km at the beginning of April I was sunburnt. Today I had driving snow pellets in my face with wind as I was running up hill and finishing. So many times I wanted to quite but I made the turn for home and kinda got that euphoric feeling I had when crossing the finish line in Dublin. The worst training run for sure.

I also have a date for my trip to Newfoundland. Yes my sweet will be joining me. Can't wait for the romantic walk by the ocean.

Something in the way she moves.

Alternative Medicine and the Simple Life

In the last little while it seems that I have been home less and less. Between road trips, training and meetings, I’m not sure what happened in the last two weeks. This weekend is mine to waste the way I want it and I’m looking forward to that. I remember a while ago when someone would ask me to do something or to go out, I always said, “well I guess so as I have no excuse to say no.” That has all changed. I now have all kinds of reasons to say no. I like that. It gives me something and someone to look forward to everyday.

Ok now that I got that out of the way, what a weekend I had. I was going to be a quite and relaxing weekend. Like I said it was suppose to be a relaxing weekend but it turned into much more. In a good way too. We went to Regina again this weekend. The big ticket item was that we had our feet “cleansed.” Now I was a little skeptical of this. Had no idea what to expect. So we get there and put our feet in water. Then some electronic ion created a current in the water to attract all the “bad stuff” in your body. My sweet went first and the water turned orange and had some floaties in it. I like hmmmm ok that looks like a rust battery. Then I went in and it was very gross. The water turned orange, green and black with all kinds of floaties and scum in the water. All this from my feet! Apparently I need to clean my gallbladder and my liver. So my first experience with natural medicine was interesting to say the least.

This lead to a shopping spree for new shoes. I tried a different brand and this was a mistake. I will be going back to what I started with. I guess a life lesson is to try new things but stick to the tried and true.

The other big even this weekend was we went to the farm. Yes we. First time to meet my parents. Now most of the time this would be in a nice relaxing environment, over supper or at an event of some kind right? Nope not this weekend. Went home to do cattle. Yes, chase, short, brand, eartag and vaccinate about 150 cattle. We actually missed all the work on Saturday but Sunday was a full day. So to say the least this went very well and opened up an entire different appreciation for her. Now it not like she is not use to this as it happens at her farm every year too but still, very good.

So like I said it was busy and getting home Sunday at 11:00 pm with sunburns and a long drive proved to wear us out. Hence this weekend is mine.

I think I just found a new finish line.

Full Speed Ahead

Well I'm pretty much at my pace last year. No improvments made. I ran 21.1 km or 13.1 miles in 1:50:30 yesterday. 3 minutes slower than last time. I had a great pace until about 17km then the sun and my few long training runs kicked in. I was hoping for a PD but not going to happen this april. What was exciting was my running partner dropper 12 minutes from her last time. That is incredible.

The best part was having so many fans in the crowd, including friends and my gf to take care of my tired self after the race. This race was no were near the spectacle of Queen City but it I did like the course.

This makes me want to train and race more. I did run 10km in 50 minutes. Last year at this time I ran 10km in 55 minutes. I am also looking very forward to a full marathon at the end of May in Saskatoon.

Yeah race season!

A New Season

Ok first race of the year! Tomorrow Regina Police Services Half Marathon. It is PD time. Well it is my second half so I always strive for a better time. 1:46 would be great but I would be happy with 1:50.

Here I go!

I'm no Cowboy

Well I had a great weekend at the farm. Not my farm but my sweet’s farm. It was pretty quite due to the fact there were 90km winds, thunder and lightning and serious rain and snow pellets. So much to my disappointment no horse riding (LF keep the ice on hold). Meet the parents was very good and I’m looking forward to my next trip. It actually felt like home for a while as the whole family was watch the curling game.

So we drove home in the snow and slush…two days before this I was running 25km and getting sun burnt. Too weird but only in Saskatchewan I guess. From 27 to -2 in 24 hours. This week is getting very busy and all I want to do is rake a few leaves, relax and get ready for my half marathon on Sunday. I’m hoping I can equal of better last falls performance. Only time will tell.

I need a nap and a glass of water.

Ride into the Sunset

So I was called metrosexual for the umpteeth time the other day. However this time it was from my sweet who said I was hetro with style. I guess this is one label I can deal with.

I have also got the feeling that all the weird people are coming out from winter hybernation. The calls are work are strange. I guess that is what spring does to everyone. It also appears that everyone is busy, which of course includes me.

So the BIG news of the day is that instead of watching "Meet the Parents" I actually get to do the real thing. Yes big day this weekend when I get to go on a road trip and meet my sweet's parents. This will be fun however a little nerves come into play. Mostly because I have to ride a horse that, I was told, will buck me off. I know she was just kidding but I am looking forward to that.

So next time I talk to you I will be gleaming with happiness or icing my bruised head.

Postivie Attitude is Contagious

Well sorry for not posting but I'm in the middle of training, having fun and spending time with my sweet. Ok weekend update and a long story of motivation. This weekend was super. Could not of planned it better. Went to "Guess Who" on friday and very much enjoyed this movie. It made me laugh and was worth the price of admission. This leads to Saturday night which was not worth the price of admission. I went to the Warrior Game. First hockey game in the crushed can this year and it was terrible. Worse than terrible, there was no rush to my seat between intermission. This game made me miss the rider games so much. It just lit the fuse to the excitment of Taylor field that this game so dearly lacked. Also went on a double date on saturday....it felt like more of a date with my friend tagging along. His date does not have much to say at all! I also won some money at the casino due to the amazing pyschic abilty of my date. Next time I'm betting more on those numbers.

Yesterday I tried to use my bike but alas my expensive bike had somekinda of wierd valve that unabled me to put air in it. I was not happy but hey time was not on myside. Worst part was I was running and my sweet was riding. So as it turned out I ran for 1:47 yesterday. First hour easy second hour hard. I felt really good too. It was so nice that I was running in just my shorts. Love it. Summer is comming.

So life is still great....however the yard...not so great. Gotta go my green thumb is throbbing.
